Experience. Empathy. Empowerment.
Experience. Since our founding in 1985, we have represented Pennsylvania families in special education, general education, school discipline, disability rights, gifted education, estate planning, and guardianship. That is our only focus.
Empathy. We listen. We understand what families go through. We are here to help.
Empowerment. Knowledge is power. We share our knowledge with you so that you can be a powerful advocate for your family -- on your own or with our help. If you need a lawyer, we will be there.

Preschool Parents!
We are thrilled to announce that we won a groundbreaking case in federal court before Judge Savage. We argued and won at a due process hearing that the MCIU should cover preschool tuition for a typical preschool and provide transportation to that preschool if that child needs to attend a typical preschool in order to receive a free, appropriate, public education. In this particular case, the preschool child had autism spectrum disorder and needed to socialize with neurotypical peers. Upon winning at the due process hearing, the MCIU appealed to federal court and we won again. Leona Z. Goldshaw was counsel for the parents at the hearing and Caryl Andrea Oberman and Leona Z. Goldshaw we co-counsel for the federal appeal.
If you have a preschool child with disabilities, we are happy to provide more information.

Coronavirus and Special Education
We are carefully monitoring school districts’ and IUs’ responses to the coronavirus and its likely impact on special education students. While keeping everyone safe and healthy is the primary concern, there are also questions arising about how IEPs will be implemented if schools go online for any significant periods of time. Some districts have already put out statements about being unable to deliver elements of transition plan IEPs. We also foresee issues surrounding related services, 1:1 support, and students who because of their disabilities are unable to benefit from virtual schooling, among others.
For now, please keep good records about any IEP-required services your student may be missing or how those services will be altered or modified. We will provide more information as this situation develops.
Stay safe and be well.
Lily Yazno-Bartle will speak about IEEs on May 10, 2019 at the Lehigh Education Conference. More details coming!
